June's Lesson

I told my first graders about a lovely woman named June. I first heard about her during a Christmas card exchange, in which she was showered with cards. She is turning 89 on June 1. My students said "I bet that's why her parents named her June!".  We had a very touching conversation about "shut-ins" and showing kindness to someone none of us will ever meet. I set out paper if they wanted to make her a birthday card should they have extra time. This is one of the million reasons I love first graders...they all made her a card!  Daisy is showing off some of the birthday cards the students were so happy to make for a kind stranger.
Daisy is selecting a few to show you.
I love the glasses!
A dot to dot to complete.
A tasty cake

I was so excited to mail the package today filled with kindness, love, and birthday wishes!
