NYE 2014

Daisy squeezed in a long nap so she can stay up until midnight.

We had quite an exciting NYE Eve... Because there was an actual real winter storm! We had temperatures cold enough to put SNOW on our mountains.

We not only had freezing rain, we had major WIND! It helped make our yard a little bigger at 12:30 a.m.
Woohoo - Daisy now has a double yard!! What's funny is we have an extra yard and some missing shingles, but the outdoor Christmas decorations are just fine. Our 2014 sure went out with a bang!
We hope you are all rested and ready to bring on 2015.  It's going to be amazing!
Happy New Year, Blogville!

Reading With Daisy: Too Many Scotties

This post is dedicated to Frankie and his mom, Beverly. Frankie joined an elite group of Blogville Scotties today. Frankie crossed the bridge to be with his siblings and paw-rents (who all had lived with Beverly). She sure could use some POTP for her broken heart.

Here is Frankie taking a nap in his new bed he got for Christmas. He's a very handsome Scott!
Red Plaid + a Scottie = Awesome
Beverly sees Daisy all the time and reads her blog. She knows how Daisy likes to review books and got us Too Many Scotties by David Richard Hughes for Christmas!  I have to say, I thought I knew every Scottie book out there until I opened my present. It's a book which every Scottie parent should own!!
Paige wishes for a very specific dog.  Yep, I get it.  I have always wanted a scottie dog.  There is so much to love about this book...a comic scottie dog , saying "a Scottish Terrier...a Scottie", the whole idea of too many scotties (there is never too many!)!
The author clearly knows a lot about Scotties.  This page details how Scotties like to stick their noses in small spaces.  Daisy demonstrated without any prompting from me!
This book has such a fun premise - how can you top Scotties flying through the air?!  Well, there are pages that top this one, but we don't want to spoil it for you!
Paige finally gets what she wants...a Scottish Terrier.
We love our present, Beverly!

Merry Christmas 2014

We started off our day with the scottie stocking full of antlers.  The trio was so excited to start gnawing, we couldn't even get a picture of them!
Tonight, Daisy opened up her present from Ranger.  Look at the look-alike card on the package!
A *PINK* elephant stuffie and
peanut butter and pumpkin crunchy treats!  He knows her sooooo well!
Next, Daisy opened Coccolino's present from the gift exchange!
Daisy didn't know which goodie to look at first.
Coccolino's assistant made Daisy a gingerbread stuffie and rope tug toy.  We love gingerbread in this house!
Considering Daisy has been a little naughty this month, this ornament explains why she's on Santa's nice list.
Then, it was time for some doggie dessert!
Daisy LOVES all her gifts.  Thank you Ranger and Coccolino for spoiling Daisy on Christmas.  We hope everyone had a lovely and memorable Christmas today!!

'Twas The Night Before Christmas

Daisy is about ready to get all snug in her bed. We are reading two bedtime stories first before we have visions of sugarplums. First up, McDuff's New Friend.
McDuff books have the best drawings of Wheaties we've ever seen!
We're not going to give away the ending, but you can see McDuff has a very famous guest in his house!
The second story is 'Twas The Night Before Christmas, of course!
This is the scottie version!!!
Santa and Scotties make great friends!!
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

have been taking pictures of all the Scottie stuff I've seen this month. I know there were some cookie jars at Hobby Lobby, but ours sold out before I could snap a picture.

Dusting

We seem to have a light dusting of snow in our house.
We can't figure out how that happened.
Any ideas?

Reflecting

Taking some time out of her day to think about Kyla and all her words of wisdom.
Sending {{{hugs}}} to Kyla's pack. We are so lucky to have known such a wise soul.

Vitamin D

After just one day of rain, Daisy feels depleted of vitamin D.

We are making Daisy's card wall tonight.  We all know who will win this contest!

December Reading with Daisy: Olive The Other Reindeer

We couldn't let this month go by without highlighting a few holiday books!  First up - Olive the Other Reindeer by Seibold and Walsh.  I would like to introduce to you Olive...
Olive is a little pup who lives in a big city.  She was taking her daily dog walk and heard, "All of the other reindeer..." playing.
Olive was singing the catchy song to herself "Olive, the other reindeer..."!  Do you get it?!  We crack up at this part every time.  Olive thought she was a dog until she heard this song...now she thinks she must be a reindeer who helps Santa!
Olive makes a quirky journey to the North Pole and Santa signs her onto his team.  You can see Olive in action on this page.
There is a little scary part in this part of the book.  We'll just say that it's a good think Olive was there to help out Santa!
The story ends with Olive enjoying Mrs. Claus' parade of cookies!!!
The illustrations in this book are SO FUN!  We know it's a book every pup would love because who hasn't dreamed of helping out Santa Claus?!

The 'Reason'

My class asked me why I don't have an Elf on the Shelf. I told them it's because Daisy can turn this...
into this...
The poor Elf wouldn't stand a chance.
That's only partially true. I think the face is a little creepy in a Twilight Zone clown kind of way!

Impossible

I am pup-sitting for my parents right now while they are on a cruise. I tried to get a picture of all three Scotties to send to them for their anniversary today.
First, I tried to be tricky and just go in the kitchen so they thought they'd get a treat.
Next, I said who wants a cookie?
I actually had to get some cookies and this is the best picture out of the whole session...
Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!
