Just enough to make the furs damp.

Summer Reading With Daisy: The Day The Crayons Quit

Hey Everyone! It's me, Daisy!  I'm back with summer reading every Wednesday.  I have a whole stack of books to tell you about.  First up, The Day The Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt.  We know crayons all quit on the last day of school, but this isn't a story about summer vacation.  The story starts off with Duncan (!!!) getting a stack of letters...from his crayons!  

Each crayon wrote a letter to Duncan.  They talked about how they aren't used enough, are his favorite, are only used for holidays and firetrucks (red), which is the real color of the sun (orange or yellow), and how they are happy with their career so fat (green).

Poor beige.  He's tired of being second place to Brown because Brown gets all the puppies, bears, and ponies. Beige just gets wheat and maybe a turkey dinner.  I need to have a talk with Beige...he's missing out on drawing a lot of Wheatie puppies!  Beige would be used all the time for drawing me!!!!

This is the funniest part of the book in my opinion.  Peach is NAKED!  Hahahahaha!  Poor Peach had it's clothes torn off and is now too embarrassed to leave the box.  We all know crayons like Peach.

On the last page, Duncan honored all the crayons' request and created a masterpiece.

This is such a creative book and really makes you think about the crayons in your box.  The illustrations by Oliver Jeffers make you really relate to the crayons' emotions.  We know you'd want to color a masterpiece, too, after reading this story!

Dog Fair

What better way to kick off summer than with a fair...a dog fair!!!  There was so much to take in. Daisy was very intrigued by the agility dogs. 

They had lots of community booths to visit. We were so surprised to see a beautiful falcon! We have lots of them since we back up to a wilderness park. 

They also had Jerry's Dogs (hahaha) for the peeps. Daisy thought they smelled sooooo good. 

We even got a goody bag full of treats!

We think this is going to be an annual event for us!

Almost There

It's a lot of {fun} hard work getting ready for the last day of school. 

We're now readying up for tomorrow!!!

Best Friends Day

Daisy gets to see her best friends all the time! They do a lot of fun things together, but their favorite is licking the dessert dishes!!

Strawberry shortcake is the best!!

State Street Mile

Geoff and Hank ran the State Street Mile in Santa Barbara today!

Doesn't Hank look sooo happy?!! 

Geoff and Hank are super happy to be racing!! 2 months ago they were both in a car that was hit head on by a drunk driver. Grrrrrrrr. They've worked hard to be able to race today!

Daisy did a victory lap in honor of their run...and is now taking a victory nap. 

National Exercise In Your Garden Day

Thanks to Ranger, we knew all about exercising in our garden today! Daisy did a few zoomies...

Then, practiced sniffing. 

She convinced Aly sniffing is a Scottie sport. 

We also had a quail in our yard this week! We haven't seen any in years!!!

This quail can exercise in our garden any time it wants. 

Teacher Appreciation Week

I have the BEST class!! They outdid themselves during teacher appreciation week. They even made a poster for my door with a surfing Daisy!!!

Daisy approves!

I have two weeks and 1 day until summer vacation. Daisy is looking forward to it more than me because she likes to sleep in!!
